Conde Nast Traveler says..."This nineteenth-century Victorian manse on a peninsula off Ocean Drive overlooks the Atlantic and has a cedar shingles and a turret. Most guest rooms have whirlpool tubs with marble surrounds, while beach cottages are filled with wicker furniture and colors inspired by the ocean. Dishes like Georges Bank cod and Canadian wild boar are served by "attentive staff." Take in the sunset views from the Adirondack chairs on the rolling lawn and "watch boats going in and out, it's so relaxing." -From Conde Nast Traveler

Travel + Leisure says..."In 1874, mining magnate Alexander Agassiz, gentleman explorer and part-time oceanographer, had a sprawling summer house built just outside of Newport. It was an ideal setting for a man who'd made strides in the field of marine biology. Set on a small peninsula where the Atlantic meets Narragansett Bay, it was, and still is, a perfect spot from which to observe marine mammals. Long since put into service as a resort, Agassiz's Victorian mansion has never lost its aristocratic charm. It has nine guest rooms and suites, the most dramatic occupying a mahogany-trimmed turret with a 360-degree view and a soaking tub overlooking the sea." -From Travel + Leisure

Modeled after an elegant Loire Valley castle the famed Chateau Marmont is a designated cultural monument whose history is that of Hollywood itself. Acquired and carefully restored by Andre Balazs in 1990 Chateau Marmont is unrivalled in its status as home to virtually every leading entertainment figure in Hollywood. Its 63 generously proportioned suites and bungalows set amidst lush private gardens offer stunning panoramic views of Los Angeles and world class service.

Travel + Leisure says...
"Behind the Marmont's lush, paparazzi-shielding hedges, discretion and privacy rule a trait that has made it an infamous favorite of celebrities. (If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont, Columbia Pictures honcho Harry Cohn once said.) Devotees have included Errol Flynn, Greta Garbo, Jim Morrison, and of course, John Belushi (who checked out in an unconventional manner). Inspired by a Loire Valley castle, the property has 63 eclectic units, from standard guest rooms to poolside bungalows and a 3,000-square-foot penthouse favored by Howard Hughes. All are uniquely decorated; some with an Arts and Crafts aesthetic, others with 1940's-style retro-chic, and still others with sleek minimalism. All the cottages and bungalows have private entrances, and many are screened by those hedges, which evoke the feeling of a grand, if slightly overgrown, estate.
Tip: Enjoy the quirkiness. The luxury here is real, but it's not of the cookie-cutter variety. If that's what you're after, head for the Ritz-Carlton instead.
Room to Book: One of six one-bedroom Premier Suites with full kitchens, terraces, and spectacular city views.
