Anantaras collection of 83 villas, each with their own private pool, is framed by magnificent Bill Bensley-designed gardens with enchanting paths meandering down to the sea. Reminiscent of a southern Thai village, each villa boasts a spacious living area, colourful silks, prized Thai furniture, and a beautiful bathroom featuring an Anantara signature outdoor terrazzo tub that seamlessly blends with the private pool.

Juicy Tidbits
Travel + Leisure says..."For its first Phuket property, Anantara eschewed bare-bones minimalism in favor of a fresh take on classic Thai aesthetics. Hidden within a former coconut plantation are 83 bougainvillea-covered villas, whose wooden walls and sloping roofs make guests feel as if they're meandering through a local village. But therAs nothing rustic here: each villa, clad in teak and raw silk, comes with a swimming pool, an outdoor daybed, and a terrazzo bathtub. The expansive spa lured us from our rooms for the kind of massage that makes jet-lagged muscles thankful to be in Thailand."-From www.travelandleisure.comConde Nast Traveler says..."The Anantara makes a welcome addition to the handful of five-star resorts strung along the 10km-long Mai Khao beach, which is still blissfully serene with nary a girlie bar in sight. Its 83 villas, built around a man-made lagoon, offer all the hi-tech trappings we have come to expect (iPod docks, surround-sound systems, WiFi access) as well as plenty of silk and sumptuous details, such as lovely essential-oil-infused bathroom products, to remind you exactly where you are. All the villas have private pools and outdoor bathtubs. It's an incredibly sexy place, and laid-back, too, thanks in part to the charming staff and Thai village ambience. A sunset dip in the gorgeous infinity-edged swimming pool is a romantic way to start your evening, followed by dinner at the beachfront Sea.Fire.Salt restaurant where a salt sommelier pairs dishes with a dozen varieties, such as hickory-smoked sea-salt. Given how splendid the villas are, it's unsurprising that in-room dining is wildly popular (you may want to be around when your housekeeper delivers the platter of Thai snacks at turn-down), and kayaking under the still, starry skies can be arranged post-dinner."

Juicy Tidbits
Travel + Leisure says..."The 2010-opened hotel occupies the underground level through floor 8 and floors 38 and 39 of the Burj Khalifa, and representing designer Giorgio Armani's debut as a hotelier. The 500 acres house a massive aquarium, an Olympic-size ice-skating rink, the $12.1 million Dubai Mall, the world's largest indoor gold souk, a 30-acre man-made lake and, at the center of that lake, a kinetic $218 million fountain that shoots water more than 500 feet into the air while lights flash and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is heard singing an impassioned rendition of "Con te partirA." It is being billed, in the hyperbolic spirit of Dubai, as "the most prestigious square kilometer on earth." Here and there you can spot a Japanese influence, from tatami mats to sliding shoji-like screens. The palette is all beiges and grays, coffees and cappuccinos, deep olives and pale seafoam greens. Like the curvaceous Burj Khalifa itself, the walls in the guest rooms curve and bend, move and slide to give access to the bedroom, to the bathroom, to the walk-in closet. In each living room and bedroom, oversize sliding panels, framed in bronze, open to reveal a flat-screen TV that doubles as a computer monitor, thanks to a wireless keyboard. Another oversize panel conceals a butler's station with an espresso machine, a well-stocked refrigerator, and drawers filled with Armani sweets. From the shampoo to the flatware, everything is stamped armani. Similarly, the flower arrangements in the guest rooms are the work of Armani/Fiori, which has a retail outpost in the lobby next to Armani/Dolci, which sells chocolates, jellies, sweets, and spreads. Also in the lobby is Armani/Galleria, which offers haute couture accessories from the Armani PrivA collection. The hotel also has eight in-house restaurants, all designed by Armani, along with a serene, 14,000-square-foot spa on the third floor, which opens to an outdoor swimming pool on the spa's terrace." -From Travel + Leisure

Travel + Leisure says..."Hyperbole is doomed in Dubai, where over-the-moon excess is as everyday as the caravans of Bentleys that cruise the city's 12-lane superhighway. In the Burj Khalifaathe world's tallest buildingaItaly's billionaire fashion kingpin Giorgio Armani made his April 2010 debut as a hotelier with a 160-room property that thumbs its nose at virtually everything that is Dubai. Think sleek and understated, greige and beige, beds topped with bespoke fabrics, and bathrooms lined with smooth Eramosa marble floors. Still, the hotel isn't completely free of over-the-top touches: a fleet of Maserati Quattroportes and Range Rovers will whisk you around the city, and “lifestyle managersa are at your disposal from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart. -From Travel + Leisure

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Joining the world's constellation of over-the-top hotels, Giorgio Armani's first namesake property soberly anchors the first eight floors plus levels 38 and 39 of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, its 160 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the starchitect-studded skyline. Rather than artwork, curved walls show off flourishes of padded bronze silks and brown, gray, and taupe textiles from the Armani collection. In case the style wasn't definitive enough, nearly every object is branded, down to pencil sharpeners, erasers, and sugar cubes. A counterpoint to the usual gold-leaf Orientalist style of luxe Dubai hotels, the rooms inject minimalism with mystery: Sliding panels reveal closets as well as a refreshment station with an espresso machine, a minibar (soft drinks are on the house), and other complimentary extras like Armani/Dolci chocolates. The hotel staff are the best-looking and best-dressed in town, including the personal "lifestyle managers," available at the touch of a phone button or a computer click. Eight eateries comprise Dubai's fanciest food court and display flashes of culinary brilliance. At the dinner-only Ristorante, try the baverese with vanilla cream, cassis and violette creme brulee presented within an impossibly thin-walled pearlescent globe of "glassblown sugar." -From Conde Nast Traveler
