Conde Nast Traveler says..."A stay at this hillside resort on 600 acres "is too beautiful to put into words." Octagonal-shaped whitewashed cottages have wraparound wood balconies, while beach-level units are tucked behind coconut palms. "There are attendants for everything from towels to drinks to welcome you to your own little palapa of relaxation." Breakfast on accra-fish cake in the treetops at Treehouse Restaurant." -From Conde Nast TravelerTravel + Leisure says..."Years before “greena and “eco-consciousa became trendy travel buzzwords, Russian-Canadian architect Nick Troubetzkoy designed and built his dream resort: a series of 49 open-air rooms situated along a verdant tropical hillside above a semi-private volcanic sand beach. Within each nature-centric Sanctuary suiteasome with the fourth wall literally removedawarm trade winds obviate the need for air-conditioning and one look toward the panoramic Piton views will make it clear why flat-screen TVs were never installed. While you can sit back and observe the abundance of wildlife right from your room, be sure to take to the water; divers and snorkelers will be thrilled to discover that several of the island's top underwater sites can be found within a few fin kicks (or a short boat ride) from the water's edge. At the heart of the cabernet-sauvignon- merlot and chardonnay vines of Napa Valley- the French restaurateur Claude Rouas has created a discreet and elegant hotel hidden amongst a grove of olive trees that evoke his love of Provence in the South of France. A handful of houses perched on the hillside offer spacious -maisons- with private terraces where aged French oak floors- colorful chenille fabrics- abstract paintings and fireplaces create an air of romance. The Mediterranean-inspired cuisine features the very best of the region and the spa- which also draws its cue from the land- proposes treatments based on grapes- olives- herbs- flowers- mud and minerals. The 15-000 bottles in the wine cellar promise an oenophiles journey to the wine heaven as you watch the sun setting on the horizon.

Conde Nast Traveler says..."This resort consists of a series of cottages overlooking the vine-studded valley. Large bathrooms have skylights and flat-screen TVs that can be watched from soaking tubsa it's such a guilty delight!" The Restaurant and Bistro & Bar serve cuisine that mines regional produce and has, unsurprisingly, "a remarkably long wine list." Since 2010, the terrace has heaters to enable dining under the stars even on chilly evenings. " -From Conde Nast Traveler
Travel + Leisure says..."The first modern boutique resort to open in Napa Valleyait turns 25 years old in 2010ais still one of the area's best. From the outside, Auberge's sandstone-colored villas, scattered among 33 acres of olive groves, evoke the terraced houses of the French Riviera; inside, the 52 rooms continue the theme with terracotta-tiled floors and rattan ceiling fans, fabrics in Mediterranean hues, wood-burning fireplaces, and French doors leading to private verandas. The treatments at the 7,000-square-foot spa all incorporate ingredients harvested from the local hillsides (an especially delicious option: the Meyer lemon-olive oil massage). And the hotel's eponymous restaurantawhere chef Robert Curry serves seasonal, regionally sourced dishes like bacon-wrapped veal with foie gras ravioliastill packs in the foodies, as it has for a quarter-century." -From Travel + Leisure

An expansive and elegant private Balinese villa awaits you with separate sleeping, bathing and living pavilions and ocean views from your plunge pool. An Indonesian spa. Dramatic hilltop and oceanside dining. All immersed in the mystique of this spiritual land. Experience the diversity of Bali by pairing your visit with a stay at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, an intimate upcountry retreat.

Travel + Leisure says..."Expectedly luxurious and dramatic, this Four Seasons sits atop a cliff at the southern end of Jimbaran Bay. The 147 thatched-roof pavilions are furnished in carved teak and upholstered in tropical batik fabrics; some have kitchenettes, and all have gardens, and terraces with private plunge pools that staffers sprinkle daily with frangipani blossoms. Views from them spill out over the sea and the soaring peak of Mount Agung, and many have private access to the resort's private, white-sand beach, with its arsenal of water sports (catamarans, windsurfers, and canoes). Faultless service and a super snazzy spa (where treatment rooms all have their own bougainvillea-filled courtyards) leave you wanting for nothing. Casual, beachside PJ's is the better of the resort's two restaurants; it serves fresh seafood brought daily from the local market (less than a mile away), and is a super spot for chilling out over sundowners." -From Travel + LeisureConde Nast Traveler says..."With villas arranged around seven squares, emulating a Balinese village, "the resort feels like an exclusive city where golf carts take you everywhere!" "Magical accommodations with local art and wooden bedside tabletops are terraced into the hillside. At a sunset dinner on the beach, "they dug out sand to create space for a low table and chairs for my kids." -From Conde Nast Traveler

Spilling down a coastal hillside to an isthmus of golden sand, Four Seasons creates an ambience of simple luxury in this pristine natural setting. With two unspoiled beaches, an indigenous spa, championship golf and the magic of the tropical dry forest.
Juicy Tidbits
Travel + Leisure says..."Take Four Seasons pampering (chilled lemon-scented towels delivered to your chaise at the pool), cross it with the charm of location (just north of the Nicoya Peninsula, the hotel is set on the coastal hills above the placid Gulf of Papagayo), and you'll have an idea of how this property distinguishes itself among the other luxury resorts in the region. Options abound: follow a naturalist guide on a bird-watching hike in one of the nearby national parks, sign up for an oxygenating sun repair facial at the lavish spa, spend the day at either of two resort beaches or three pools, or challenge yourself at the Arnold Palmer designed golf course. And at the end of the day, fall back into your spacious room or suite (there are 145), with its private veranda and deep marble soaking tub." -From Travel + Leisure
Conde Nast Traveler says..."The forest resort's exteriors emulate regional animals: Roofs are constructed from flat clay tiles to represent turtle shells, lizard skins, and fish scales. Suites resembling tree houses have contemporary furniture, local art, and handwoven rugs. Papagayo serves Continental cuisine, and its open-air seating overlooks the pool. Activities include zip-lining, volcano hiking, and horseback riding -"there's too much to do!" " -From Conde Nast Traveler

Travel + Leisure says...
"Although overwater bungalows are the most luxurious lodgings at the Four Seasons, the hotel has 121 different rooms scattered along the beachside and lagoon of its motu (small private islet). Walls throughout are made of volcanic stone, roofs are palm-thatched, and interiors are decorated with teak and merbau-timber furnishings. All have extraordinary views over the turquoise-blue, coral-filled South Pacific, as well as the majestic black-rock peaks of Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia."

Conde Nast Traveler says...
" When we stayed last October, the new Four Seasons was not yet sitting as comfortably in its surroundings as the Hotel Bora Bora (closed for renovations), or the neighbouring St Regis Resort, where Nicole Kidman had her honeymoon, but time should lend a few lines of character. Certainly, those who prefer to see the world though Four Seasons goggles will love it. French designer Pierre-Jean Picard has given the resort the feel of a golf-course, with golf-carts transporting guests to the 100 bungalows, all of which are exceptionally comfortable, with large beds, L'Occitane soaps, framed Tahitian artefacts and sliding wooden doors opening onto a horizon of palm trees. The two restaurants are good (it's hard to botch a tuna caught 50 metres away); the barman was nine years at the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris; and the place is perfect for honeymooners (50 per cent of guests), anyone celebrating a wedding anniversary (20 per cent), or mid-30s professionals with children. But the pièce de résistance is the spa. When Rupert Brooke got sunburned on Tahiti he had to make do with a massage of coconut oil and vinegar. Here, Jennifer will give you a two-hour 'therapy treatment', involving a cactus brush, apricot kernels, peelings of black pearl, hot volcanic stones and frankincense and myrrh oils."
