Travel + Leisure says..."Connected by a private boardwalk to sandy, three-mile-long Crescent Beach, this five-acre resort reopened in June 2008 after a multimillion-dollar eco-renovation. The revamped property now has environmentally friendly features like recycled rubber floors, all-organic bath and cleaning products, an indoor-outdoor air exchange system, and a solar-panel-heated swimming pool; public spaces, including a clubby lobby lounge, wraparound deck, and the light-filled, Maine-meets-Mediterranean Glass restaurant, were also renovated. All 57 stylish rooms and suites (many with kitchens) have contemporary Maine art, comfy furniture, and bold crimson- and chocolate-colored fabrics; some have fireplaces. While accommodations in the main building are spacious, the even roomier garden and loft cottages are great for families, groups, and pet owners. The resort's state-of-the-art organic spa (the hotel used a LEED consultant) is a rare find, with a eucalyptus steam room, sauna, and menu including regionally inspired treatments like the hot Casco Bay stone massage." -From Travel + Leisure

Big romantic rooms (flower petal designs on bed) with terraces and balconies poised for views. No real beach (Playa La Ropa is 100 yards away). Languorous alternative resort: Infinity-edge pool mimics ocean horizon; walking the grounds is a folkloric tour of Mexico. 29 rooms."-From National Geographic TravelerConde Nast Traveler says..."Adobe architecture at this multi-tiered resort above Playa La Ropa includes "beautifully appointed rooms with ocean views named for traditional songs. White walls and tile floors frame enlarged terraces with flower arrangements and palm frond roofs. In 2008 Post Ranch added 10 new sculptural structures, spiraling Pacific Suites, cantilevered Peak Houses, and Richard Serra-esque Cliff houses clad in torques of rusted steel, but the "tree houses," on nine-foot stilts, are still the best place to channel your inner child. Staying in a Pacific Suite, wherever you stand you are exposed to the ocean and the sky but unseen by other guests. Even the tiled bath, big enough for two, has a commanding vista, and a floor-to-ceiling window that opens to let in Pacific breezes. The walls are paneled in redwood salvaged from old wine barrels and sheet metal art adorns the bathroom.
