Built along either the waters edge for privacy or hidden in a jungle of exotic gardens. Lazy ceiling fans and large four-poster beds with mosquito netting reflect the laid back atmosphere. The restaurant is suspended directly over the water making it one of the best places to watch the sun go down.

Travel + Leisure says..."This ultrahip hangout takes its name from its cluster of thatched-roof bungalows built atop rock cliffs that jut just above an aquamarine cove. Most of the 34 so-called rock houses are outfitted with private patios or sundecks; a few have private ladders leading right down into the sea. With four-poster beds made of local timber and covered in the softest linens, soaring ceilings, and giant windows facing the sea or gardens, the rooms encourage ordering breakfast in bed before venturing out for snorkeling in the sheltered waters of the reef or an “On the Rocksa massage in the new open-air, cliff-top spa.Tip: The hotel funds The Rockhouse Foundation, which provides resources and facilities to Jamaican children; ask the front desk to help arrange a trip to a local school, where guests can donate supplies like notebooks and pens.Room to Book: An oversize Premium Villa for the killer sunsets every night. Why It's a Bargain: Your dollars do double duty; your vacation helps build and repair local schools and expand libraries. Travel + Leisure says..."Native Creole tradition meets modern design at the newest venture from Caribbean guru and co-founder of the Island Outpost hotel group Allen Chastanet: Coco Palm, located in Rodney Bay Village. The 83 rooms are clean and simple, decked out in the usual island colors (yellow, blue, green) and detailed with native artwork, and - to satisfy techies - Pods and speakers. If you want to be close to all the outdoor action and don't mind a little extra noise, ask for one of the seven "swim-up rooms," where testing the waters means simply stepping from your terrace into the hotel's serpentine pool." -From Travel + Leisure
Travel + Leisure says..."On the northern coast of the island, just off Reduit Beach, Coco Palm is perfectly located, not only for easy beach access but also for checking out the boutiques and restaurants in neighboring Rodney Bay Village. The 101-room hotel is a pastel pastiche of Creole style (French-colonial beds; claw-foot bathtubs). At the casual Ti Banane Bistro, which serves some of the best rum cocktails on St. Lucia, a sarong is as dressy as it gets for dinner. -From Travel + Leisure

Travel + Leisure says...
"Tensing Pen is one of those rare island hideaways that has made the successful transition from 1974 hippie hangout to rustic-chic boutique hotel. With everything from yoga classes and seaside massages to hammocks strung beneath trees overlooking the ocean, the emphasis is on total relaxation. From the outside, the cluster of thatched-roof, stone-and-dark-wood bungalows (housing 23 different room, suite, and villa accommodations) looks vaguely Asian, while the furnishings inside are a whimsical blend of rattan, bamboo, and heavy wooden furniture with jewel-toned accents in the form of Caribbean folk art."
